Some of you may already be familiar with this script, its a relatively popular one amoung the private hives.

"Halo Jump" spawns, basically instead of spawning on the coast you spawn above it falling. You can decide when you pull your parachute and float down to earth like a badass. From what I've heard you will never land too far (1km) from the coast anyway.

Originally when I read about it months ago I dismissed it, thought it sounded lame and broke the realism of dayz somewhat. However I saw a video of it recently and I have to admit it does look cool in action. I still can't make my mind up on it at the moment so I'm probably going to at least try it first hand on my test server.

I wanted to know what you guys thought too to this system for spawning. Here's a video (this server has music on spawn too which we could also have).



Let me know what you think, have you played in a server with it before? Do you want to see it implemented here? Is there anything you'd like to see change? etc

i admit, that looks pretty awesome. Though I'd be trying to land on top of people (without using the chute) after id spawned :D

Would this also make it so that Parachutes don't automatically deploy when ejecting from air vehicles? If so, I'm all for it. Always hated that you can't parachute from Little-Birds. Speaking of which, I saw this...

Nope its just a new way of spawning, you can parachute from little birds fine as long as you aren't losing altitude when you let your passenger eject.

Yeah I posted that ages ago when we first added the little bird, I tried it but it's not possible without client downloads and heavy modification of the mod itself to make it play nice with dayz

Ah ok, gotcha. Have you ever considered maybe running one of the other versions of Cherno that already have all the cool mods in it, so that when they download the "map" they also DL everything else they need. Something to think about. Personally, I kinda want to try "Breaking Point". The only thing I don't like about it so far is the over-abundance of OP vehicles.

I don't like people who take work and mods from the ARMA/DayZ community, bundle it into their own package claiming it as their own and then use it to sell servers. Origins does this very much and whilst BP doesn't restrict access to their server files they still steal content.

Also BP is ridiculously badly optimized and will have issues on even the most powerful of servers, we're running vanilla chernarus with a few mods and ours already doesn't like that very much. From what I've seen of BP though its just Chernarus with a shit tonne of guns from other ARMA mods, some new vehicles and a bunch of mods they lifted straight off the community. If I wanted to use loads of different military grade weapons I'd just play ARMA. Granted it would be nice to be able to cherry pick one or two for our server but not for the sake of a completely new mod download.

As soon as a potential client has to download something to join the server it completely kills the player count. Doesn't matter if its a mod as big as Breaking Point or even Origins it still exposes our server to far less traffic. I do not want to return to the days of playing with 3 other people.

I don't know much about how the server works, but would it be possible to have the option to HALO spawn or normal spawn just to mix it up a bit?

With some extra coding its possible, I haven't actually been through the halo jump code yet so can't say for sure until I do but maybe.

That looks freaking cool as hell! BUT....here he goes I kinda feel it would get old pretty fast.

i wouldnt mind this as long as its kept at the coast and you cant freefall very far north. id much rather have this over the cinematic zoom into.

I think I'd find it cool for a couple of days but it would get old fast. Plus if you died in Elektro then got lucky with an Elektro spawn, you'd be pissed waiting for the jump to finish.

Or worse, you could get shot out of the air!
