Yeah its the same mod essentially just some stuff changed, I might test it out at some point, but it does feel a bit too close to playing ARMA 2 and a bit far away from what dayz is about for me which is realism.

if this were real? i would build a small shelter, then after so many hours/days/weeks etc, id build something bigger and more secure. id try to keep my valuables 'mine'. i would have a home base. something fortified.

in a zombie/survival game, base building is essential if you want realism. watch walking dead? or 28 days later?

the prison in walking dead, the hotel in 28 days later, or even the house in I AM LEGEND. people need security and they also need possessions and stability.

of course, yeah have seen them all. but seriously? the buildings there all have been built before the apocalypse, by companys with a lot of specialized equipment/material and so on. the bases that you can currently build make a lot more sense (sandbags/little towers/containers) but hey an aircraft hangar? look at that. so fucking much metal involved there. you probably need 5 urals to carry it all...
