In my opinion the graphics settings of Arma provide to many advantages to those willing to accept their game to look like crap.
Would it be possible to kick players that have:

-post processing disabled
-gamma above 1.2 or so
-shadows disabled
-object detail low
-brightness cranked all the way up

I know that this might hurt the player count a bit but I hate that I have to choose between realism and tactical advantages.

Yeah unfortunately its not possible with scripting, I heard DayZero removed some of the options for their mod, you can still change them back in the config files though I'm guessing.

Night in DayZ is very far from realistic, especially when it comes to natural nightvision, raising brightness and Gamma simply brings things to the way they should be.

if you don't believe me, try to step out to the fields/woods at night with no flashlight or tourchlight(IRL I mean), your eyes adapt so you can see enough...

Well, seeing at night depends very much on the weather conditions. If the Night is moonless or clouded and you´re in a thick forrest you will see shit. Unless you´re Riddick or Batman. Believe me I had my fair share of combat training at night. Same goes the other way round on a very clear night with full moon... you will practically see like its daytime if your standing on a field.

But the one part thats unrealistic in the Arma Engine is lighting. If you´re at night and look into a fire your viewing distance will be reduced to 2 meters max. Yet the engine can´t deal with that.

Exploiting of bugs and settings was and will be a part of DayZ forever. It´s frustrating - but so is the life of the bitches who do it. ^^

I'm with Christoph here. If there are some stars or a little moon outside sight is actually not that bad at night. Just give it a try and don't use a flashlight, it will kill your eye's adaptation.

Related to the topic: This would also strike out everyone whose PC can't handle the ridiculously high system requirements of Arma II - compared to it's graphic standard. And on top of that: I can't play with post processing turned on. It makes me sick to the point of vomiting.
