Hi everybody,
with the newest patch of Arma2, every DayZ player has to migrate his DVD-Edition to Steam.
As this problem will probably hit a lot of players, I thought we could work together on finding a simple solution or creating a small guide.

I personally chose to download Arma2 OA completely fresh from Steam because I had a lot of mess with the different mods in my install directory.
I was able to activate my CD key in Steam via "Games"->"activate a product for Steam" and then download the game itself.

But as suggestes by Seaweed and some other forums, it should be possible to copy the existing Arma2 folder to the SteamApps folder and be somehow able to play.

If you have found some tutorials on the net, please post a link.

Or if you tested yourself, tell us about it.

I will attach 2 screenshots: one of a fresh steam installation and one of a fresh DVD installation.
The directories are partially the same...

If I find some time in the evening, I will test to enable the DVD installation for Steam.

Thank you for your help :)

I'll leave it open there's still lots of useful information here and I'm sure plenty of people won't understand how to transfer their key to steam when gamespy gets shutdown :)
