I can toggle to put main weapons own but not pistols.is this a known bug or just me?

ARMA 2 doesn't have any animations for this AFAIK, you've never been able to lower sidearms in dayzmod.

lol it does have the animations, it just doesnt work properly.

If you double tap ctrl on pistol and switch to primary it will automatically switch back to pistol and show the animation. Altough its buggy and will randomly stop again
